After the whole airport issue the night before, we definitely wanted a day to just hang out and have some fun! We were excited to try out CSA and excited about new friends! We met at the bus stop on campus, got to meet Matt's wife, Joanna, and then we went to CSA together! It was definitely weird going from APU to SGU where chapel was mandatory, Bible classes were required and so on. Here, the people who go to CSA were there because they wanted to be. Not to say that no one at APU wanted to go to chapel or learn more about God, but it was neat to be in an environment where we knew that these people had made the choice on their own to get up and go to church. We watched some worship videos from the worship leader's home church- they were really good! Then we did some worship as a group. After that we watched a video of Alistair Begg giving a talk at Westmont College. CSA was really fun to try out and we met some really nice people- unfortunately I have passed on the "church disease" (getting tired as soon as you walk in to church) to Ashkon Oops :)
After CSA, we went to this little burger restaurant on the beach called Umbrellas. This was our first experience eating out so we were curious to see if the rumors we heard were true. We were told that you can order and they might just bring you something completely different or if they don't have an item they will just give you something else and so on. So, me with my "selective palette" (Ashkon calls it picky...) was a little nervous when I needed to ask for No this and that and this on the side. But the waitress was really nice and I think my order was primarily on the spot! I got a chicken sandwich and Ashkon got a burger (with bacon on it of course). It tasted delicious! Success!
After that, Matt and Joanna invited us to go to "their beach". They live off campus in this really cute 2 bedroom home with a beach in walking distance! We hadn't been to the beach yet so we were excited! After getting to their house, we realized that the hotel we stayed at the first few nights was right where they live and we were actually closer to the beach than them and didn't even know it! The beach was amazing! More beautiful than words can describe! The water was so blue and refreshing! This is the life :)
