Back to Grenada...

Once we got back, we fell right back into place like we should have known we would...Well almost! We couldn't move back into our place right away so we had to stay with friends, Matt and Jo, for the first 2 nights. It was fun except that we didn't have any shower stuff and it was hard finding things in our suitcases with how strategically we packed...But we made the most of our time with our friends! Minus the fact that we could not get adjusted to the time once we got back- We were going to bed around 3 AM and waking up between 11 and 12! Oops...luckily our friends had a new baby, Elora (I've posted a few pics of her from before we left for break),  so they were trying to sleep in as well after waking up for early feedings. The first day back we went downtown to get some fruits and veggies at the market. The rest of the day we just hung out, had no agenda- it was pretty nice since we were still pretty tired from getting an hour of sleep and traveling the day before. That night we went to Prickly Bay for 1/2 off pizza night! Our friends had decided to stay in Grenada over break so it was fun to hear what they did and how their time was with family when they came to visit them! It wasn't weird at all to be back, it truly felt like home- a different home- but Our Home!

The next day we got to move back in to our place...It was such a blessing that we got to stay in our same room but we still had to pack everything in our closet so moving back in was quite a doozy. It was fun to unpack our bags and see all the goodies that we brought back with us! But, it was quite an event to find everything's home again.

Showing off his candy stash!

Testing out our new Snorkel Gear!
Beach day with Matt, Jo, Elora, Jess & Michael!

What a cutie :)

The Banis! (Banihashemi is way too long to write out in the sand lol)

Watching the 49ers win the quarter finals with Friends! And then we got the gift of our first cockroach when we got home...Ashkon was my hero and killed it to save the day!!
The day Ash's classes started, I started back up with my exercise classes here in Grenada after our Christmas break. Last term, I ended doing a body pump class, yoga class and pilates class all two times a week, as well as, a Step and Sculpt class. So, I figured the schedule would be the same (and it was a safe assumption since the website had the same schedule…but this is Grenada). However, when I went to the gym for the first body pump class, our instructor told me that there was a slight change in the schedule. Instead of Pilates being after pump they were doing a 6-week trial of a Zumba class. I have never done Zumba before so I figured, Why not?! I’ll try it! I wasn’t really sure of what I was getting myself into! On a side note, the majority of the ladies (and a couple men who occasionally show up) that I take the classes with are from all over- US, Austrailia, Europe, Grenada- and most of them are quite older. So, I figured, well if they can do it, I can do it!
Pump ended and I was excited to see what my first Zumba class would be like! Most of the Zumba instructors I have ever seen before have been high energy, fit ladies. Our instructor walks in and was a young GUY from Spain named Kevin. He was wearing high adidas socks, adidas sambas (for all you soccer players, remember those?!?), soccer shorts, and an adidas cut off top. He began setting up his computer for the music and I start hearing whispers and giggles. All of the older ladies were making comments about how cute they thought our instructor was! There were even “cougar” comments being made! Haha
Since I had never actually participated in a Zumba class, I didn’t really know what to expect. The way this class was run was we would exercise to one song/do one routine, take a very short break while Kevin picked a new song, and then we were back at it! The breaks were hilarious- every time we would stop after the song was over, the ladies would all turn to each other and say things like “I can barely focus, I’m so distracted because he is soo cute!” And I heard a “Now I am officially a cougar!” :)

Another funny part of class was a small Grenadian man who came into class at the beginning with a lot of energy. At first, it sort of felt like he was making a joke of the class- laughing and not really paying attention to the moves we were supposed to be doing. But further into the class, I realized that I think he was just having a really good time! He didn’t seem like he knew what he was doing half the time, but he sure was having fun doing moves on his own!
So, my final assessment of my first Zumba class: Half the time I felt like I was in a boy band with the cheesy steps we were doing and the moves to the music. Another part of me was thinking, I’m white and MAYBE if I had any type of Latin or Spanish blood in me I could move like that or shake my hips like that. And the other part of me felt like I was getting a pretty good work-out and had a really fun time doing it! However, most of the time I truly wished that I was getting “Wii Just Dance” points and star points at the top of my screen while I was dancing ;) That really would be the ultimate exercise dance class!

The second week we were back, I decided that it was time that I actually start doing things from Pinterest!! My first try- Homemade Whole Wheat Tortillas! They turned out amazing and you know how I know that--My husband said they were the best wheat tortillas he has ever had!!!! :D:D:D And now if I don't make them fast enough, he asks me constantly until I make another batch haha :)
(Look at my January Recipes post to see the recipe! Its a really easy recipe, just somewhat time consuming- But definitely worth it!!)
Our rolling pin :)

My friends Matt and Jo invited me to go exploring around the island with them because they wanted to show Matt's mom who was visiting more of the island! We started going up the East side to our first stop- Mt. Carmel! We took a short hike to this beautiful waterfall and then headed to the "water slide"!

The Water Slide
(I was going to try it until our friend Brent slipped at the top of the "stairs" [there was no easy way to get up there] and just missed taking his wife out who was going up behind him...)

You could also cliff jump.

Our view on the hike back

Driving to our next destination

Elora was such a trooper all day!

We think we are going the right way...

Until we reach this "tiny" pothole- more like a crater- which added some extra drama to our day!
He made it!! And didn't hit his wife in the process haha...After the success of getting both cars past that huge ditch, we ended up having to turn around because it just got worse from there...

We ended up making to the place we tried to get to taking the route with the ditch! It happened by chance too! We were headed home and just happened to pass by it right before it got dark so we headed up the hill to see Concord Waterfall!

We've been having a lot of fun with our new camera that we got for Christmas! One of our favorite things to do is go out together and take pictures while we watch the sunset over the ocean!

Caught a rainbow on our walk back to check
something at our place before the sun went down!

We were trying to get the "green flash" but we didn't see it this time. Apparently, as soon as the sun hits the horizon, sometimes you can see a green flash right when the sun disappears. (Like in the last Pirates movie- Yea its real!) We haven't seen it yet, but we are hopeful that we will before we leave here :)

My attempt number 2 with Pinterest recipes was Whole Wheat Pita Bread! Again- another success!! This was really fun and Ash also LOVES these so I have continued making them about once a week!
(See the recipe on my January Recipes post!)

I always make hummus to go with the pita bread :)
(Recipe for the hummus is also on the January Recipes Post)

We were sad that one of our favorite shows ended this month- Fringe! Ash could only watch it with me every once in a while, but I still kept him up to date with the plot and the drama. We had gotten really into it last year when Ash was in Nor Cal and we would watch it with my parents. It had become one of our favorite shows so we were bummed when we found out that it was ending! But, we were glad that we at least liked the ending and didn't feel like we were left hanging or questions weren't answered or anything like that! But we will miss Peter and Walter and Olivia and Astrid...

Even though we came a week before classes started and two weeks before orientation began for the new first termers, it came really fast! We were excited for the orientation bazaar to happen again after we had fun at it last term! We signed up for some clubs, walked around to all the booths and got to hang out with friends! Ash signed up for the Emergency Medicine Club and got a cool shirt! I signed up for the SO Organization and the Photography Club!

One of my favorite things during the week--> Face timing with this goofball!

Love him!!

Our First Visitor...Wait for next post!!!
